Question by Alzy: interior design help with all wooden room?
my room is really ugly and plain. its made entirely of wood- the walls, door, bookshelf, floor. i dont know how to decorate it. its just very brown and boring and doesnt have anything like “splashes of color” or coziness. if i had normal walls, i could paint them blue or something but i dont. my parents wouldnt let me paint the wood anyway, so i was wondering what kind of color theme i could work with?
my walls are really bare. i was thinking of hanging photos like here

I would hang curtains along the entire wall that your headboard sits against & matching bedding. Simply find the bedding you like that has matching curtains. On the other walls you can purchase large posters that compliment the bedding (Art.com). WalMart & JCPenney have hundreds of great bedding options that are very affordable for teens. It would be cool to get a large shag area rug (8×10 or so) for the floor. And if you can paint the bookshelf, it would help to break up all the wood. How about the ceiling??? If that’s not wood also, consider painting that a beautiful green.
Here’s a suggestion (I would prefer that the draperies in the picture to not have a valance, so if it’s optional, don’t use a valance or topper):
