seems to me that everything sis way too dark there and if the room is not especially big, a dark rug will be too much. Try to copy the colors of the drapes o choose white.
A rug with:
black, crimson red, and lots of white or ivory or gold..
creme, paler gray with or without red accents–you need some lighter elements.
A light colored shag rug would be a good option. Shag is very popular right now, and the maintenance is much lower than it used to be. Everything in your room sounds like it is angular and intense. A shag rug would soften the room, and still keep the modern, sophisticated feel you are going for.
do an image search for united weavers shag area rugs. I saw 4 or so that would match your style. Also, be sure to get the correct rug pad to protect your floor.
your scheme sounds very masculine and dark. A great look, but you need to add some lighter neutral colours to help the eye appreciate all the dark reds and blacks.
A cream or taupe rug could look great, and will help to soften the look of the space. But you’ll need to ensure that whatever colour you go for to add the same colour in one or two places around the room.
Always remember that monochromatic or dual colour schemes always work best with just a hint of its complementary colour somewhere to let the visual work to its most effective.
try to use a variety of textures, as this will also help to soften the feel of the room, whilst not taking away the masculine look of the overall scheme.
